Mental Health First Aid (Accredited)

Become a certified Mental Health First Aider.

This internationally recognised training, delivered through Mental Health First Aid Australia, equips participants with the knowledge and skills to recognise, understand, and respond to signs of mental health challenges and crises.

Delivered by an accredited instructor, this course provides a structured, evidence-based framework to support someone developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis until appropriate professional help is received.

Why This Training Matters

Mental health challenges are common, but knowing how to respond is not.

Many people notice when something isn’t right with a colleague, friend, or family member, but feel unsure what to say or do. This training provides a clear, practical approach to step in early, reduce harm, and support recovery.

What You Will Learn

The course covers:

  • Common mental health problems, including depression, anxiety, substance use, and psychosis

  • How to recognise the signs and symptoms of mental health challenges

  • How to respond to mental health crises, including:

    • Suicidal thoughts and behaviours

    • Panic attacks

    • Severe distress

    • Substance-related crises

  • How to provide initial support using the MHFA Action Plan (ALGEE)

  • How to connect someone with appropriate professional help and supports

Course Structure

  • Duration: 2 full days (face-to-face) or blended/online options available

  • Certification: Participants who complete the course receive accreditation as a Mental Health First Aider

  • Accreditation Body: Mental Health First Aid Australia

1 in 5 Employees Affected

Each year, 1 in 5 Australians experience a mental health condition, impacting focus, performance, and workplace wellbeing.

When workplaces prioritise mental health, teams perform better, absenteeism decreases, and people feel safer asking for support.

3 x Higher Wellbeing

Employees who feel psychologically safe at work are significantly more likely to report better mental health, stronger engagement, and higher job satisfaction.

When people feel safe to speak openly, ask for help, and raise concerns, workplaces become healthier, stronger, and more resilient.

Early intervention Changes Outcomes

Recognising signs of mental health challenges early can significantly reduce escalation, long-term absence, and workplace crisis.

Mental Health First Aid gives leaders and teams the confidence to notice concerns early, respond appropriately, and connect people to support before problems grow.
